Philip Ashforth Coppola is a person on a mission. The artist and archivist has made it his obligation to doc New York Metropolis’s subway stations.
He was given the title of “Subway Recorder” by a filmmaker making a documentary of Coppola’s life work known as ‘One Observe Thoughts.’
When recording every station, Coppola attracts out the designs by hand. He then researches the artists behind the work and paperwork the origins of the design. He publishes his findings and art work in books and manuscripts.
Coppola says he’s completed over 100 stations. There are solely 350 extra to go.
